THE DRY WELL
She swore she drew the dawn water. The well had stood dry and sealed for a week.
INCIDENT REPORT. Edmund Pyne was found at dawn beside the boarded well, struck down with a heavy hand-pump handle. The well had run dry a week before and been sealed under a board; no water had been drawn from it since. Five of the farm folk were awake that night. Each gave an account. One of them swears to drawing water from a well that had been dry and sealed for days.
Decode each statement, then name the one liar. The cipher is the same for all five.
